Today was a day for organizing all of the applications that we received and making sure everyone sent the correct info. We also constructed a rating sheet so we have some numerical way to rate applicants. What are we rating people on? Here is a list: writing ability, ability to follow directions, recommendation, their reason for being in the study, research methods/ statistics bakground, and their research experience. We will also consider geographic location and want to make sure we have some minority researchers.
As far as organizing, I have made a spreadsheet of everyone's key points and will add in the rating from each of the 3 faculty researchers and the recommendation info that we receive. Then we will pick the highest scores from each area of the country. People that are not selected do not fret - we will invite you to be part of the control group :)
